Recalls & Reminders

Never miss an important check-up or test

Recall & Reminder System

At our clinic, we use a “Recall and Reminder” system. We check your health record to see when you’re due for tests or check-ups. When you let us send you these reminders, we can catch serious problems early and keep track of conditions you already have. That can make a big difference to your health later on.

Most of the time, Hotdoc sends an electronic reminder straight to your phone. Sometimes your doctor or nurse will mail a letter, send a password protected email or give you a quick call instead.

Usually the reminder asks you to book another appointment a few days after your test. Remember, receptionists can’t see your full results—they only see a short note from the doctor. They can’t explain exactly what your numbers mean.

That’s why it’s really important to come back in for your results. When you see the doctor again they can:

  • Check how you’re doing (getting better or needing more tests)
  • Talk about healthy habits (like diet, exercise and stress)
  • Build a stronger doctor-patient relationship

If you can’t make it back in person, you can also have a phone consultation to go over your results.

Getting Your Test Results – Why Follow-Up Matters

After your appointment, your doctor may request tests like blood work or scans to help diagnose or monitor your health. They’ll usually ask you to return a few days later to discuss the results.

While some patients call reception for results, it’s not the best option. Receptionists only see limited notes (e.g., “no action needed”), which may not explain everything. They can’t access your full medical record or provide details like your exact cholesterol level.

That’s why it’s important to follow up—either in person or by phone. When you speak with your doctor, they can:

  • Review how you’re doing and whether further tests are needed
  • Explain your results clearly, including any trends or concerns
  • Discuss healthy habits (like diet, exercise and stress)
  • Build a better understanding of your health over time

Even if you’re feeling fine, following up helps ensure nothing is missed and gives you a chance to ask questions. Your health is worth the conversation.
